Sheikh Abdellah Marhoum's study of the Quran started from an early stage of his life “making him a Hafiz” at the young age of 14. He followed the narration paths tracing back to the noble individuals mentored directly from the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Sheikh Marhoum obtained Ijazza in reciting The Quran in seven different ways. He has been taught different schools of thought in Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh) and Quranic intonation by renowned Scholars and Sheikhs including Hussein Merdas, Al-Samadi, and Al-Aeshi.
Dr. Esam Omeish is a Libyan American surgeon based in the Washington, DC area since 1982. He has held significant leadership roles, including National President of the Muslim Students' Association (MSA) of the U.S. and Canada, and the Muslim American Society (MAS). Dr. Omeish has served the Muslim American community extensively, holding positions on the boards of the Islamic Center of Passaic County, Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center, Islamic Relief USA, and the U.S. Council of Muslim Organizations.
Sr. Isra Chaker is a Syrian-American activist, humanitarian advocate, and public speaker. She currently serves as a Senior Campaign Manager at Amnesty International USA. Sr. Isra is the architect of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's For Mama campaign, the first advocacy and multi-million dollar resource mobilization project of its kind addressing maternal, newborn and child health. For Mama’s Ramadan fundraising campaign raised more than $13 million. It marked the first time Muslim philanthropies in North America and the United Kingdom combined their collective power to promote maternal health, and the first time the Gates Foundation has supported a large-scale, community-driven fundraising campaign in support of a priority health issue.
Dr. Ayman Hammous, married with five children and one granddaughter, holds a doctorate in physical therapy from Stony Brook University. He has been with the Muslim American Society (MAS) since 1995, serving as a chapter president in New York from 2003 to 2008. He co-founded the first youth center in the country in Brooklyn, NY, in 2001, and in 2010, co-founded the MAS Community Center in Staten Island, a project that faced opposition from Islamophobes Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller. Dr. Hammous has also served as a former member of the MAS National Board of Trustees and was elected National Vice President. Since 2019, he has been the National Executive Director of MAS.
Imam Farhan was born in Ohio but mostly raised in Connecticut, he graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Biology with a plan to apply for medical school. He decided to change course in his life and specialize in serving the Muslim community through Da’wah and Islamic work. That caused him to travel to Makkah and enroll at Umm al Qura University, earning bachelor degrees in Arabic language and Islamic Studies. Imam Farhan returned to the US and has been working as a Resident Imam for a community in New Jersey, while working on completing his Masters Thesis in the Sciences of Hadith from Umm al Qura University. Imam Farhan is married and has four children.
